BENZIN is a 2019 german drama and the debut feature film written and directed by Oliver Mohr. It premiered at Moviemento, the oldest running cinema in Germany and was nominated for best mid-length feature at the 2020 First Steps Awards in Berlin. Frederik von Lüttichau plays Alex, a hard workingman who benefits from new people coming to the village.
30 years after the reunion of Germany, there are still some villages in the east, where just a few people didn’t leave their home. Nothing happens. Nobody talks about the past. When suddenly Kate, a young woman from Ukraine appears, things change. The film is about the encounters of characters that helplessly want to get something from each other but fail trying.
